53 questions on small black bins, enclosures and junk removal. The short answer sits under each one.
Bins & sizes
Black, small and tidy.
Most askedWhat bin sizes do you have? Two sizes to start: a 4 yard and a 6 yard, both black. An 8 yard is available on request. Nothing bigger.
Every bin is black inside and out, with a slanted lid and a front man-door. We start with six 4 yard bins and two 6 yard bins.
- 4 yard slant-top72″ W × 57″ D × 54″ H. Holds about 25 to 30 kitchen bags. Our everyday size for small buildings, offices, churches and clubs.4 yd
- 6 yard slant-top72″ W × 69″ D × 71″ H. Holds about 40 to 45 kitchen bags. For mid-size buildings and busy small plazas.6 yd
- 8 yard slant-topAbout 72″ W × 71″ D × 84″ H (estimate). Only if a site clearly needs it.On request

Most askedWho is bin service for?Small apartment buildings (4 to 24 units), small commercial, and churches, clubs, schools and non-profits. Homeowners use junk removal.
Bin service is built for small properties that don’t need, or can’t fit, a big hauler’s truck:
- Small apartment buildings from 4 to 24 units: owners, landlords, property managers and condo boards.
- Small commercial: offices, retail, restaurants and small plazas.
- Churches, clubs, schools and non-profits: halls, congregations and community groups.
A house with stuff to clear is not a bin-service customer. It’s a junk removal customer, and we’re happy to help.
Which size and how often do I need?About 4 to 8 units is usually a bin emptied every 2 weeks, and 9 or more is usually weekly. We confirm it on your quote.
A starting point for apartment buildings. We confirm the size and the day on your quote, then re-check after the first month.
- 4 to 5 unitsOne 4 yd binEvery 2 weeks
- 6 to 8 unitsOne 6 yd binEvery 2 weeks
- 9 to 11 unitsOne 4 yd binWeekly
- 12 to 17 unitsOne 6 yd binWeekly
- 18 to 24 unitsA 6 yd bin plus a second bin or a second weekly pickup, set on a site visitWeekly+
Offices and retail: usually a 4 yd bin, weekly or every 2 weeks. Restaurants: weekly. Churches, clubs and schools: usually a 4 yd bin, monthly or every 2 weeks, with extra pickups after big events.
Not sure? Tell us the number of units or what you throw out now and we’ll recommend one.
Why does the bin have a front door?So our crew can empty it by hand. No big garbage truck needs to drive into your lot.
Each bin has a 2-foot hinged door on the front with a reinforced frame and a locking bar with a hasp. Our crew opens it, carries the bags out by hand and tidies the pad. Tenants and staff still use the lid.
The lid is double-walled, UV-stabilized black plastic on four heavy hinges, with easy-lift handles and chains for a padlock. We set up with you how the crew gets in (a key or a code) before the first pickup.

What can go in the bin?Everyday garbage only: household or office trash, bagged. Bulky items go through junk removal.
The bin is for everyday garbage, on purpose.
- Household or office trash, bagged.
- Bags go inside the bin and the lid closes.
- No bulky items (furniture, mattresses, appliances), no construction or renovation debris and no hazardous items.
- No recycling program on day 1.
Bulky items are easy: book a one-time junk removal and our crew carries them out. See the full can’t-go list.
What if the bin is full before pickup day?Ask for an extra pickup. It’s added to your next invoice, with the photo.
Need an extra pickup in a busy week? Ask for one and we add it to the next invoice, shown with the photo. Bags left beside the bin are not collected on a normal visit unless you ask for an extra pickup.
If the bin is full every week, it’s the wrong size or schedule. Tell us and we’ll change it: we re-check the size after your first month anyway.
Do you have bigger bins or roll-off dumpsters? No. We stay small on purpose: 4 and 6 yard bins, and an 8 yard only on request.
No. We are not a construction or renovation bin company. Our bins are small, black and serviced by hand so they suit apartment lots, offices and church halls.
A renovation project or a big demolition needs a roll-off company. For a one-time clear-out of a basement, garage or apartment, use junk removal: we carry it out and haul it away.
How much room does a bin need? The bin is 72 inches (6 feet) wide. Leave room to open the lid and the front door.
Both sizes are 72″ wide, and neither has fork pockets, so nothing sticks out of the sides and the bin fits a tight spot or a single enclosure. We place it where it works for you and for our crew: reachable by tenants or staff, and with the front door able to open.
Optional heavy-duty casters let the crew roll the bin to the curb when the lot is tight. We confirm the spot on your quote.
What if the bin gets damaged? We replace or repair a bin damaged by normal use. It’s part of the monthly fee.
Replacement or repair of the bin, if it’s damaged by normal use, is included in your monthly fee, along with the bin, its placement and every scheduled pickup.
Schedules & pickups
Same day, by hand, with a photo after.
Most askedHow does a pickup work?A crew in a pickup truck with a dump trailer opens the bin’s front door, carries the bags out by hand, tidies the pad and sends you a photo.
Our crew arrives in a pickup truck with a dump trailer and parks at the curb or the edge of the lot. They open the bin’s front door, carry the bags out by hand and tidy the pad. Then you get a time-stamped photo of the empty bin.
- Tell us about the property. Units or what you throw out, and where a bin can sit.
- Get your quote. A written flat monthly fee. No contract.
- We place the bin. A black 4 or 6 yard bin, where it works for you and for the crew.
- We empty it by hand. On your day, with a photo after.
Will a truck damage my pavement? No big garbage truck ever drives into your lot. If our crew marks your pavement, we fix it.
A front-load refuse truck is heavy, and a small lot isn’t built for it. We never bring one. A pickup and trailer stop at the curb or in one stall at the edge of the lot, so your pavement stays as it is.
That is also why the bin has a front door and no fork pockets: it is never lifted by a truck. If our crew or equipment marks your pavement, we fix it.
Which day do you come, and do I need to be there?Your quote sets one day, the same each cycle. You don’t need to be there.
Your written quote confirms the bin size, the pickup day and the fee before we deliver. Pickups then land on the same day each cycle:
- WeeklyBuildings of about 9 or more units, restaurants, busy officesEvery week
- Every 2 weeksBuildings of about 4 to 8 units, small offices, community hallsEvery other week
- MonthlyChurches, clubs and low-volume sitesOnce a month
You don’t need to be there. The crew has access to the bin and sends the photo when they’re done.
How do I know a pickup was done?Every pickup gets a time-stamped photo of the empty bin and the tidy pad.
After every service you get a time-stamped photo of the empty bin and the tidy pad, and the photos are kept in your account. If a scheduled pickup has no photo, tell us and it is on us.
What about snow and winter?Keep the bin and its front door reachable. For enclosures, gates are hung to swing over snow.
Please keep a path to the bin, and room to open its front door, clear when you can. If the bin sits in an enclosure, the gates are hung to swing over snow, and we check snow storage and clearances at the free site visit. An optional roof or pergola cover keeps snow and rain out.
Optional casters let the crew roll the bin to the curb when a lot is tight. Tell us about your site and we’ll plan around it.
Can I change or stop my service?Yes. It’s month-to-month: 30 days’ notice to stop or change your plan.
There is no contract. Give us 30 days’ notice to stop or to change your size or schedule. For a one-off busy week, an extra pickup is simpler.
Enclosures
Garbage bins don’t have to look like garbage.
Most askedWhat is a bin enclosure?A good-looking, lockable fence we build around your bin so the bin area looks like part of the property.
An enclosure is a fenced, gated structure we build around your 4 or 6 yard bin. The bin area looks like part of the property, and a locked gate keeps outsiders from dumping in it. It is an optional add-on to bin service, in a single size (one bin) or a double (two bins).

Do I need an enclosure? No. It’s optional. It’s worth it when the bin is visible, shared or dumped in.
No. Bin service works without one. An enclosure earns its place when:
- the bin is visible from the street or from tenants’ windows;
- strangers or neighbours dump in your bin;
- you want the bin, and the lid, kept clean and out of sight;
- you want it to match the building.
What styles can I choose from?Three: chain-link with black slats, cedar or pressure-treated board-on-board, and modern horizontal slat.
- Chain-link with black slatsBudget. Black vinyl-coated chain-link on galvanized posts, black privacy slats, double swing gate. Built in 1 to 2 days.Budget
- Cedar or pressure-treated board-on-boardClassic. Overlapped boards on both sides on treated posts, double gate on heavy strap hinges. Built in 2 to 3 days.Classic
- Modern horizontal slatPremium. Black steel frame and gates with horizontal wood or composite slats. About 3 days on site, frame made ahead.Premium
Add-ons: lockable gates, a roof or pergola cover, and a colour match to your building.

Do I need a permit?Sometimes. We check at the free site visit and handle permits where needed.
It depends on your municipality and on the lot. We measure and check the site at the free visit, tell you whether a permit applies and handle permits where needed, before we build. If you rent the property, the owner will need to agree to the enclosure too.
Will an enclosure work with snow?Yes. Gates are hung to swing over snow, and we check snow storage at the site visit.
It’s designed for a New Brunswick winter. Every enclosure has a double front gate hung to swing over snow, built to fit our bin with room to open the lid and the front door. At the site visit we check where plowed snow will be stored. A roof or pergola cover keeps snow and rain out of the enclosure.
How much upkeep does an enclosure need? Not much. Wood weathers or can be stained; the steel and chain-link styles are finished in black.
Chain-link is vinyl-coated and the modern style has a black steel frame, so there is nothing to paint. Cedar and pressure-treated wood weather naturally, and you can stain it if you want to keep the colour. Posts are set in concrete, or fixed to the pavement where we can’t dig. We tell you what each style needs on your quote.
Will an enclosure stop illegal dumping? It stops the easy drive-by dump: the gates lock, and so does the bin.
It removes the easy opportunity. With a lockable gate, and a bin that locks too, strangers can’t just toss a couch or bags in. It won’t stop someone determined, but a locked, tidy enclosure looks cared for, and that alone discourages most dumping. Churches, clubs and plazas with public foot traffic often start here.
How does getting an enclosure work?Free site visit, photo mock-up and quote, then we build it in 1 to 3 days.
- Free site visit. We measure, check the pad, snow storage and clearances, and take photos.
- Mock-up and quote. You get a photo mock-up of your own building with the enclosure, and a written quote.
- We build it. We handle permits where needed and build in 1 to 3 days.
- Bin in, gate locked. We roll your bin in and hand over the keys or code.
How is an enclosure priced?Per site, after a free visit. You get a mock-up and a written quote first.
Every lot, pad and building is different, so enclosures are quoted per site after the free visit. You see a mock-up and a written quote before you commit. We take a deposit to order materials and the rest when it’s built. Cancel before materials are ordered for a full refund; after that, the deposit covers what has been ordered or made.

Is the photo quote the final price?Yes, unless the job turns out larger than the photo and you approve the change first.

What items cost extra?Mattresses, fridges and freezers, TVs and tires carry a small special-item surcharge.
These carry a small surcharge, shown on your quote:
